Larry Marbert |
Larry Marbert, vice president of real estate and facilities, joined the University in 2007. He is responsible for developing and maximizing the value of over 10.5 million square feet of University-owned and operated real estate. He is responsible for eight departments: Real Estate, Campus Planning and Development, Facilities Design and Construction, Facilities Management, UM Police, Office of Emergency Management, Parking/Transportation, and Financial Management Services. Marbert has contract administration responsibilities for a number of subcontracted University services. Overall, he has responsibility for approximately 800 UM and contract service employees.
He was formerly assistant vice president for construction management at Baptist Health South Florida and spent 30 years in the newspaper business, holding positions that included senior vice president of operations for The Philadelphia Newspapers and vice president of technology and vice president for production and facilities at Knight Ridder, Inc. He holds a master’s degree in management science from Auburn University.

Steve Cawley |
Steve Cawley is the University of Miami’s vice president for information technology and chief information officer (CIO). He was formerly vice president and CIO for the University of Minnesota and CIO of the University of Minnesota System.
Cawley’s experience includes the development of long-term strategic plans and a governance system for information technology; implementation of PeopleSoft financial and administrative systems; outsourcing email, calendar, and contact applications; and development of a coordinated management structure that leveraged collegiate and campus IT leadership. In his role as CIO at the University of Minnesota, Cawley worked closely with the Academic Health Center, which includes the University’s Medical School, Dentistry, Public Health, Pharmacy, Nursing, and Veterinary Medicine, supporting many aspects of technology strategy, service, and policy. | more  |

John R. Shipley |
John R. Shipley, vice president of finance and treasurer, joined the University in February 2010 after more than 25 years of financial, operational, and managerial experience with Purdue University, where he last served as its comptroller. At UM, Shipley oversees investments, accounting, and treasury functions, as well as student accounts, payroll, accounts payable, and business services. He is responsible for University relationships with lending institutions and the external financial community. He holds a Bachelor of Science in business administration from Miami University and a Master of Science in management from Purdue University. He is a board member of the Council on Governmental Relations and chairs its Costing Policies Committee. | more  |

Nerissa E. Morris |
Nerissa E. Morris joined the University of Miami in October 2009 as vice president for human resources. She oversees operations including benefits, compensation, employee relations, performance management and diversity. For over 20 years, she served at the Ford Motor Company, with assignments including labor affairs and organizational development. Appreciation for diversity stems from varied global responsibilities covering Europe, Asia Pacific and South America. Ms. Morris holds a Master of Business Administration and a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration from Xavier University in Cincinnati, Ohio. She is a member of SHRM and the National Black MBA Association. | more  |

Theresa L. Ashman |
Theresa L. Ashman, associate vice president and controller at the University of Miami, is a certified public accountant whose 18 years of experience in higher education include implementing several initiatives to improve the financial operations of two of the nation’s best-known institutions. Before joining the University of Miami in 2011, Ashman spent four years as controller of the University of Utah, where she was responsible for a multitude of departments, including accounts payable, income accounting and student loans, general accounting, property accounting, endowment accounting, contracts and grants accounting, managerial and cost accounting, and merchant cards. She also oversaw the preparation of the annual financial report, worked with University Development to review donor gift agreements, and resolved financial issues and provided guidance on internal controls and business processes for the university’s hospital, colleges, and departments. | more  |
