Meeting Today's Challenges and Planning for the Future
The Southern Association of Colleges and Schools (SACS) reaccreditation process is being used as a catalyst for the University of Miami to pursue even greater academic and administrative excellence through a university-wide assessment measuring institutional effectiveness. The university is streamlining its assessment process by standardizing measures across all university units, reemphasizing accountability, and utilizing web-based technology for collaboration and data collection.
This process involves assessing each and every academic program and administrative unit throughout the university in a systematic way that ensures that students come first and educational and support efforts are effective. The definition, application, and measurement of student learning outcomes beginning at the very program level reflect the university’s commitment to providing the best possible learning experience for all of its students and faculty.
At the University of Miami, we know that great institutions continually strive to be even better. For this reason, we will go beyond the bounds of SACS assessment requirements and meeting today’s challenges to planning for the future by strengthening the very heart of any university – student learning.
