UM Employee Programs
The University wants their employees to be as healthy as they can be and they are backing up their commitment by supporting a variety of programs:
SHAPE UP is an incentive program designed to encourage the development of a healthy lifestyle through participation in fitness and wellness programs. Full-time and regular part-time faculty and staff, and their spouses/domestic partners who are enrolled in the UM health plan, are eligible to enroll in SHAPE UP. The program enables employees and their spouse/domestic partner to earn a 20% rebate on their Herbert Wellness Center membership.
Walking Canes 10K-a-day program educates faculty and staff on how simple and easy a walking program can be and to motivates participants to increase their daily physical activity. Benefits for participating employees include improved health and well-being, lower levels of stress, and potential weight loss.
CV Wellness is a supervised exercise program for individuals at risk for cardiovascular disease. Benefits Administration will reimburse 75% of the cost to faculty and staff who successfully complete the program.
Be Smoke Free is a 6-week smoking cessation program that has been assembled by our faculty and addiction experts. It consists of an array of behavioral and psychological interventions that will be tailored to fit your needs.
Miami Corporate Walk/Run is an annual 5K Walk/Run held at Bayshore Park. Join Team UM for an evening of health and fun on April 29, 2010!
